This is a less run portion of the Snake in Alpine Canyon.  There is a nice class III rapid here called the narrows but you have to float a small section of Palisade Reservoir to get to the take-out. Weather on the river today will be a chance of snow, possibly mixing with rain after 10am, then gradually ending. mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 44. west wind around 8 mph. chance of precipitation is 50%. new snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

This run is accessible from 2 public boat access points along the Snake River.

The Narrows is currently TOO LOW to be paddled and you could find yourself bottoming out on rocks. Paddlers are advised to exercise caution with streamflow levels at 1230cfs, about -85% below the average runnable rate of 8000cfs. Streamflow levels and subsequent run conditions for Narrows are sourced from the USGS streamflow gage located at Snake River At Moose, Wy.


Our recommended river levels for paddling this section of the Snake River are between a bare minimum of 2000cfs and a high of 22000cfs. Paddlers can expect to come across 1 class III- to III+ obstacles as they float down this 4 mile stretch of the Snake River.
